Broadcom + VMware

Migrate off VMware. On your terms.

Since Broadcom acquired VMware, license bundles got bigger and prices got worse. STL businesses are quietly moving to Hyper-V and Azure Stack HCI — and they're saving real money. We do this migration every week.

Sound familiar?

Your renewal quote went up 2–5x with bundles you don't need.

Your reseller can't get clear answers on what you're actually buying.

You're being pushed onto VCF whether you want it or not.

Our process

A migration that doesn't blow up your week.

1. Assess

Inventory every VM, dependency, and storage policy. Identify risks and quick wins. Fixed-fee, no commitment beyond.

2. Plan

Right-sized Hyper-V or Azure Stack HCI design. Cutover windows mapped to your business calendar. Rollback plan documented.

3. Migrate

Live replication where possible. Test cutovers on non-critical workloads first. Run side-by-side until you sign off.

4. Validate & Optimize

Performance baseline, backup verification, monitoring in place. We stay until you're confident.

Scope

What we actually move.

Every environment is different — but the moving parts are usually the same. Here's our standard checklist.

  • VMware vSphere/ESXi VMs → Hyper-V or Azure Stack HCI
  • vSAN datastores → S2D, hyperconverged, or SAN
  • vCenter policies → SCVMM / Windows Admin Center
  • VMware NSX segmentation → Hyper-V virtual switches + firewall
  • Veeam jobs reconfigured for Hyper-V (or replaced)
  • DR runbooks rewritten and tested end-to-end

Common questions

How long does a typical migration take?+

Small environments (under 25 VMs) often complete in 4–8 weeks. Larger or more regulated environments are 3–6 months. Most of that is planning and validation — the cutovers themselves are usually quick.

Will there be downtime?+

For most workloads, cutovers happen during a planned maintenance window with minutes — not hours — of downtime. Critical apps run side-by-side until you sign off.

What about licensing?+

Hyper-V is included with Windows Server Datacenter. We help you right-size licenses, often using Software Assurance or CSP for the best path.

What if Hyper-V isn't right for us?+

We'll tell you. Sometimes Proxmox, Nutanix, or staying put on a renegotiated VMware contract is the better answer. Our job is the right answer, not the loudest one.

Do you handle ongoing management after?+

Yes — that's the point. The migration is the start of an MSP relationship, not a one-off project.
